Smoky quartz
Smoky quartz got its name because of its brown colour. It was misleadingly called smoky topaz in the 18th century. Synonyms for smoky quartz are cairngorm and pseudotopa.
It is found in fissures and on druses, in Brazil, Madagascar, Russia, Pakistan and Switzerland.
Smoky quartz is mostly always brown, more rarely it has yellowish tones, extremely rarely it is black.
