Tourmaline quartz
Tourmaline quartz means rock crystal with visibly enclosed needle-like tourmaline crystals. The black schorl is found in the tourmaline quartz. Synonyms are hairstone and needlestone.
Larger deposits are found in Brazil and Madagascar.
The tourmaline itself is black. The surrounding quartz is milky-turbid or clear.
