Moldavite

Moldavit takes its name from the Vltava River, Czech Republic
Moldavite was formed 15 million years ago when a giant meteorite more than 1 km in diameter
hit the earth's surface at a speed of about 70 000 km/h. The energy released by this impact
in the order of about 250 000 nuclear bombs, the meteorite vaporised and the hit
rock abruptly, and an explosion occurred, which in a few seconds created a crater
25 km in diameter and 4 km deep: today's Nördlinger Ries, which created the original
continuous Jura mountains of southern Germany now into the Swabian and Frankish
Alb divides. The explosion ejected molten rock splashes,
which flew 400 km in an easterly direction through the air, cooled and solidified during the flight
and finally fell back to earth in the area of today's Upper Moldavia. There they find
is now embedded in the sedimentary rock. Source Gienger encyclopaedia of healing stones
