Gagat stone
The name 'gagat' comes from the place where it was found on a river in Lycia (Asia Minor). The name developed from the Old French "jayet", from which the name jet developed in England. This synonym came to Germany with the jewellery.
Agate is found in France, Great Britain and Russia.
Gagat belongs to the coal rocks with a large proportion of hydrocarbons.
