Dioptase
Dioptas received its name in 1806, and means "the transparent one", Greek diopteia = see-through. Dioptas is one of the few copper minerals that allow optical insights into the inner structure. In former times Dioptas was also called achivite, siliceous copper emerald or Kyrgyzite.
Dioptase is mostly formed in warmer climates.
It is mostly found in Kazakhstan, Namibia, Zaire and Congo. It has an emerald green colour and good transparency.
