Diopside
The stone Diopside was given its name in 1806 because of its crystal form, which shows two sides, Greek dis=double, opsis=view. Diopside containing chrome is called chrome diopside. Diopside is found in India, Sri Lanka, Burma, Madagascar, Brazil, USA and Russia. Chromium diopside is mainly found in South Africa and Russia.
Diopside is monoclinic. Its colour varies from white, green, grey to black.
