Anhydrite
Anhydrite received its name in 1801. anyhdrite is anhydrous plaster, Greek anhydros=waterless. It became known as healing stone under the name Angelit. It is also called luminescent stone, silk spar, cube plaster or cube spar.
Anhydrite belongs to the salt rocks. They are formed either by the evaporation of sea water in shallow waters, or by hydrothermal processes. Through the latter, it is found in crystal formations on fissures, corridors, in the Harz Mountains or in the Alps.
Anhydrite can be found in the southern Harz Mountains, Chile, Japan and Russia. Anhydrite is colourless, grey, reddish or bluish, its colours are rather pastel and light.
