Amethyst stone

Amethyst is a widely used gemstone (quartz)
They are found in Brazil, Uruguay, Namibia, Madagascar, Russia, Sri Lanka and Morocco. Such crystals are mainly found in cavities in hydrothermal veins and in volcanic rocks.
Amethyst druses, in which the crystals have formed within a cavity, surrounded by a layer of chalcedony or agate, are very often found in the trade

Miscellaneous: Amethyst is a purple coloured quartz whose colour is caused by defects in the crystal lattice ( Fe4+ ions are built in).
This defect is caused by natural radioactive radiation (exists everywhere) on iron-containing quartzes.
Amethyst usually forms from hydrothermal solutions and can fill entire drusen cavities (amethyst drusen)
