Tourmaline has been known for a very long time

a peculiarity of tourmaline is its high energetic conductivity and the ability to rub

or heating to develop electrical attraction

The tourmaline captivates by its variety of colours. It can appear in all colours and show every imaginable colour combination:

the most frequent colour combination is black tourmaline - Schörl

the brown tourmaline is called Dravit

green tourmaline - verdelite - appears more rarely

and red tourmaline - rubelite

Absolute rarities are blue tourmaline - indigolith

and purple tourmaline - Apyrite

multicoloured tourmaline crystals are called polychromes

the watermelon tourmaline is a polychrome tourmaline with a red core and green edge
