Zoisite

The stone zoisite was named by A.G. Werner after the mineral collector Siegmund Freiherr Zois(1747 - 1819). The term zoisite aroused unpleasant associations in English (zoisite - suicide), whereupon the synonym tanzanite was created.

Zoisite occurs in Longido/Tanzania.
