Name, synonyms, trade names
Iron pebbles dark red coloured quartz crystals by iron oxide. Their name is derived from the
colouring iron and the old synonym "pebbles" for quartz and hard rock.

Iron pebbles are trigonal and form pseudohexagonal double ended
Crystals up to 1.5 cm, rarely 3 cm in size. The crystal surfaces are matt and often somewhat scarred, because
the crystals grew against the resistance of the environment.
